Camp Community Expectations

A Happy, Safe, Creative Space for Every Young Artist

At Children’s Art Place we make space for every child to feel safe, brave, and wildly creative. Our Community Expectations help campers and families know how to show up, participate, and make camp filled with friendship, imagination, and joy.

Camp Behavior Expectations

Be Respectful

  • Use kind words and celebrate each other’s creativity

  • Listen when teachers or friends are speaking

  • Respect fellow campers, teachers, and materials

  • Help make our space welcoming — no teasing or exclusion

Be Responsible

  • Follow staff instructions with a positive attitude

  • Take care of art supplies and the studio environment

  • Participate and try your best

  • Dress for mess and be ready to create

Be Safe

  • Keep hands, feet, and materials to yourself unless directed

  • Leave toys, valuables, and electronics in backpacks unless needed

  • Do not bring unsafe items to camp

Our Shared Values

We believe camp should be:
  • A place where every camper is treated with kindness, respect, and encouragement

  • A space where creative expression is celebrated and every artist feels supported

  • An environment where we take care of each other, follow directions, and make great art together

Prohibited Behaviors

These interfere with creativity and community and are not allowed:
  • Bullying or aggressive behavior

  • Repeated unkindness toward others

  • Damaging or taking belongings

  • Repeated refusal to follow instructions

If Expectations Aren’t Met

Our goal is always to help children succeed. When a camper struggles with expectations, we:
  1. Give a gentle reminder

  2. Offer redirection and support

  3. Communicate with parents if needed

In rare cases where a child cannot follow safety or behavior expectations, dismissal from camp
may be necessary to protect the experience of the group.

A Gentle Note About Behavior

Behavior challenges are very rare at Children’s Art Place. Most campers thrive in our creative
and a positive environment.

When challenges do arise, we address them with patience, care, and clear guidance. Our goal is
always to support each child while maintaining a joyful and safe group experience.

We take our responsibility to every child seriously and appreciate family partnership in helping Make camp a wonderful experience for all.
